Bathroom Remodel 5
Bathroom Remodel Boise Foothills
Part of a whole house remodel with 3 other baths remodeled, this bathroom remodel was long overdue. The layout did not change, but we did remove the green bathtub (well, not really sure what it was) from the space. We discovered some interesting wall paper, and figured that this bathroom had been through two previous remodels.

After showing a floating cabinet, new tile and new shower for the Guest Bedroom. Before, green fixtures and shag carpet. Note the tub, it is only 48" long and half deep. Demolition! This bathroom had seen a couple of previous remodels. Note the wallpaper.
Bathroom remodel completed, with a new added function – a shower.

Bathroom Remodel
This Bathroom won a first place award in NARI’s photo competition. A contemporary upgrade to a guest bath. As this part of the home is slab on grade, we kept the fixtures all in the same location to keep costs economical. This Bath remodel includes a new larger vanity, a new wall mount toilet (tank in wall cavity), and a new shower.

Opening Up – Bathroom Remodel
Many of the remodels that we complete are relatively simple upgrades or functional fixes to a current situation. Here is a bathroom in a home that is only 3 years old, yet the bathroom was always a bother for the owners. They knew that they wanted something else, but weren’t sure what that something was. We proposed (and constructed) several modifications, all without tearing apart the remaining 75% of the bathroom.

The completed bathroom remodel, showing the removed wall, new countertop, and new shower. Before, same view as after above - we removed the common wall between the two spaces, and replaced the shower. During - apologize for the quality...the majority of the work has been completed, waiting for the shower glass and working on the toilet installation.

A well placed window that not only provides natural light and ventilation, but also, a city skyline view in the morning when standing at the vanity. Before - cramped, isolated and dark...time to take out some walls and add a window...
Again, we did not affect the remainder of the bathroom with this remodel, and fortunately the owner had a few pieces of saved tile that we were able to use to patch the floor once the wall was removed.

Bathroom Remodel South East Boise
This Master Bathroom remodel solved several challenges with the former Bathroom.

After - The completed Master Bathroom. Before - The former Master Closet sat in this corner, blocking the best view from the home. During - Looking in the same direction – the interior of the bath, looking towards the former closet. By relocating the closet to a former bathroom area we opened up the desired view. During - Future tub and shower location, windows not yet installed. Same view showing the new windows. The tub will set directly below these windows. On the right is the new shower.

The new Master vanity, located in practically the exact same space as the former vanity. The plumbers doing their install, half wall framed for shower.

The Master Bath. Here standing in the Bedroom looking towards the Bath. Note the window through the door as a point of reference. Master Bath, taken from the same angle as the prior picture. You can see the layout of the former walls on the floor. The little square room on the right was the closet. This corner (the former closet) offers great views so we will take advantage of this potential. Watch the wall, to the left of the window disappear.... To the left, we removed an existing hall Bathroom to allow space for the relocated Master Closet. A new Bathroom and Laundry Room are being constructed near the two bedrooms over the Garage.
Part of a whole house remodel, with an addition over the Garage – to be featured soon.

Bathroom remodel – 3/4 Bath to a Powder Room
A former 3/4 bath was no longer being used, and as it was adjacent to the Dining Room, a ‘formal’ Bathroom was needed. The Bathroom was converted into a Powder Room. The toilet was in an odd location and visible from the hall – by relocating the toilet behind a half wall, the toilet was hidden from view.
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

Completed Powder Room. The Powder Room before the bathroom remodel, showing the shower with the vanity tucked in behind it, and the toilet to the far right, across from the vanity. Besides being in the wrong location, the toilet was pushed right up against the wall, making sitting on the toilet a little crowded. And during. We moved the toilet, and installed a 'floating' cabinet.
This bathroom remodel is part of a whole house remodel with a very interesting story, which will be linked here soon…

Bathroom Remodel for North End Home
The former basement bathroom was in trouble, big trouble – the Bathroom was falling apart and long overdue for a Bathroom remodel.
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

After - Note the dropped ceiling in the shower. This accommodates the P-trap from the toilet above. We aligned the drop ceiling with the shower footprint. Before - The former Bathroom was also used as the Laundry Room. The shower is behind us to the right of the toilet, note the small window behind the basket upper left (window replaced, but in same location). Also note the dropped ceiling accomodating the waste lines from another Bathroom located directly above. The washer and dryer were relocated to another room in the basement. During - We have removed the drywall and the concrete floor and are ready for the new plumbing. The main waste line is now visible.

Before - Use #1002 for duct tape, much cheaper than a plumber! During - This is a detail looking at the waste lines draining the upper Bathroom tub, toilet and vanity sink. We removed and upgraded the waste and supply lines, and relocated to make space for the new Bathroom.

After. Before - The former waste line was located in the drywall chase just left of the door. During - Note the chase has been damaged from a leak.

Bathroom Remodel with Walk-in Shower
As this bathroom was used by two teenaged boys, keeping the divider wall between the toilet/shower room and the vanity was key for privacy. We retained the original layout of the bath, with the majority of the work limited to the former tub/shower, which was converted into a full walk-in shower. The toilet remained in the same location, as did the vanity. Flooring changed out to tile, new counter tops, paint and a cabinet refinish updated this bathroom.

ADA Bathroom Remodel for wheelchair use
One of the owners of this home was no longer ambulatory, but with the aid of full time assistance, he was able to remain in his home despite full time wheelchair use. As with most homes, this home was not adequately designed for wheelchair use, especially in the former bathroom which was a very cramped 3′ x 3′ dark shower with a 6″ curb and a small 22″ shower door (note that we did not remodel that bathroom but rather another bathroom off the hall. The former shower was located in the Master Bedroom, and door widths limited access to that space).
This bathroom remodel had a huge effect on the day-to-day lives of the homeowners and their caretaker – a roll-in shower, open vanity cabinet, barrier free toilet access and plenty of room. We gained space in the Bathroom by removing a closet in a neighboring room to add about 30″ width to the overall bath. The shower floor was ‘inset’ into the joists (detail image below) to allow for barrier free access to the shower.
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

After. Before - Prior to the bathroom remodel it was a tight space. The wall on right was pushed back 30". The window remained in the same location. Tile and glass block installation.

The finished space with two shower heads. Installing electrical and plumbing. Showing the notched floor joists to allow for a barrier free shower floor.

Bathroom Remodel for a 50′s Home
Part of a larger remodel, the original 1956 Bathroom was ready for an update. The former layout’s entry area consumed too much space in the small Bathroom, so we sacrificed a small hall linen closet and moved the door over to allow for a large vanity. We also removed the tub and installed a shower with a curb.
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

The new Bathroom showing a dual level counter top surface, the lower level for sitting. Before the bathroom remodel, the owner's dog had always kept his decor concerns to himself. Demolition! Note the tile is just a thin stick-on tile, common from this era - and it lasted more than 50 years. New replacement window installed. Space taped off and painted.
Along with this Bathroom remodel we updated the Living Room of this home, and previously, added a large addition to the house for a new Kitchen, Family Room, and Garage. The owners posted a nice comment about us on their Facebook page, which we re-posted here.

Bathroom Remodel 3
Bathroom Remodel for an 80′s home
A newer home that had a rather funky layout that had always irked the owner, bathroom remodel time! Another example of updating a space without relocating major walls, in this case, we relocated the tub and combined the tub and shower into one unit. As this was the only bathroom on this level of the home, the owner wished to retain the tub.
The completed space – the bath did have natural light, but one window was shifted over to allow for a new layout. The room already featured two skylights which remained.
The former elbow bumper shower, we have all experienced them…the vanity shifted over slightly to allow for a full upright linen cabinet.
Bathroom Remodel 2
Minimal Changes for this Bath Remodel
Simple changes produced dramatic affects to this bath. Removing a wall separating the toilet/shower room from the vanity room resulted in a much larger space – and adding a window provided natural light to the former dark bath. It is often surprising how powerful a few changes can have on a space.
We kept the same cabinet layout, and resurfaced the cabinet fronts. The half wall you see above is in the same location as the previous wall, the toilet did not change location, and the shower was slightly re-framed but remains in the same position.
Before bath remodel – cramped and dark.
Bathroom Remodel 14
Powder Room Remodel
This Powder Room was located directly off the Living Room. Due to neighboring rooms, and a curved wall, we could not relocate the door without major changes, so it was essential that the space be as ‘formal’ as possible to minimize the ‘bathroom’ effect (that might not make very much sense…hopefully the pictures below will best explain the story).
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

After - The owner saw this cabinet in a magazine and we custom designed and built a similar one to fit this space. Before - Powder Room before the bath remodel, located directly off the Living Room. During.

After - This Powder Room is visible from the Living Room, so we designed feature lighting to focus specifically on the sink and vase. The lighting is directed on the sink, with scallops hitting the wall. Light scallops are the pattern you see on a wall to create visual interest in a space, in this case a soft scallop has been intentionally created. Before - Note magazine holder and intercom system on the left - one can certainly question the purpose of an intercom system in a Powder Bathroom - especially one that is beyond arms reach during a toilet paper crisis. During - Basic finishes installed.
We also completed a full Master Bathroom update in this home that turned out beautifully, visit the Master Bath post here.

Master Bath Remodel
This Master Bathroom remodel exemplifies the power of finishes! The layout of the bath worked well, but the finishes were dated. By upgrading the finishes we created a powerful new look.
Click on photos to enlarge. To view more photos please click continue reading at the bottom:

After and Before - Looking towards the shower. Before - We replaced the glass block with clear tempered glazing. During - The new tub deck framed with opening for cabinetry behind tub face panels. During. Note that the hardwood and the tub face cabinet are both installed and protected. Just waiting for tile and the new tub.

After - Towards Master Bedroom. The tub face cabinet are hopper style drawers that tilt out for towel storage. Before - Looking towards the Master Bedroom.

Vanity complete - The mirror to the far left has a hidden cabinet behind it. Before - Note soffit and ineffective lighting (who wants shadows on their face while trying to apply makeup?). During - Vanity and soffit removed, phew!

The new Master Bedroom. A new paint job, and new flooring changed the look in this area. Former Master Bedroom.
Not too long after we completed this remodel, the owner had some life changes (love!), listed the home and it sold in a matter of days – apparently because of this space. As part of this remodel, we also completed a Powder Room remodel which turned out just as beautiful, visit the Powder Room post here.
